Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes his side are in good form ahead of Sunday's El Clasico against La Liga rivals Barcelona.

The Blancos travel to the Spotify Camp Nou with a four-game winning streak and a scoring run of at least four goals in their last three games in all competitions.

Jose Mourinho's side are currently third in the Spanish top flight, six points behind Barcelona, who are yet to lose a league game this season.

Madrid are yet to defeat Barcelona at home in a La Liga game since October 2023 when Jude Bellingham’s brace completed a 2-1 comeback victory.

Courtois says El Clasico is always 50-50

Courtois, who has been at the Santiago Bernabeu since 2018, believes El Clasico is unpredictable regardless of current form.

he Belgian goalkeeper acknowledged the challenge of playing away to Barcelona but remained confident in his teammates.

"I think we’ve played some good matches, picked up some good wins and made a great comeback in Rome," Courtois told Marca.

"We’re confident about what lies ahead, and we know it’s going to be a tough match. But if we want to close the gap in the league, we’ll have to go there and win.

"You never know until you actually play the match. I think we’re in a good place and full of confidence. They’ve been doing very well in the league, but I believe in our team and think we can go there and win.

"It’s true that we’re playing away from home, and that makes a difference, but I believe in our team. For me, Clasicos are always 50-50, even when one team comes into the match in better form than the other."

Barcelona hold the advantage in the all-time Clasico record, with 131 wins to Madrid’s 112 in 307 meetings across all competitions.

Courtois backs Vinicius Junior to rediscover his best form

Madrid travel to Sunday’s fixture without one of their highly-rated stars Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius has had a difficult start to the La Liga season, recording one goal and three assists in eight appearances.

With questions being raised about Vinicius’s form, Courtois backed the Brazilian to rediscover his best level with support from his teammates and Madrid supporters.

Courtois added: "No, I think he's looking for his best form, and I'm sure he'll get there with the support of the team and the fans.

"I think he played a good game; I saw him create chances, he was dangerous, and in the end, things don't always go your way.

"A player who's at his best every season—I only know of two others, Cristiano and Messi, who I've seen at their best almost every year, and even then, they've been criticized at various times, two of the greatest in history. In the end, it's football.

"I think Vinicius is someone who's been playing almost every game for nine years, and that's why we have to help him find that best form. But he's the first coach who's happy and looking for his best."

The Brazilian will be unavailable for Real Madrid in Sunday’s Clasico as he continues to serve a four-match ban.
