The FA have rejected Everton's appeal to rescind the red card shown to Michael Keane for violent conduct.

Furthermore, the English defender was shown a red card against Wolves on Wednesday for a hair-tug on Tolu Arokodare.

Moreover, it means that Keane will now serve his original three-match ban.

In a club statement, Everton said they are, "disappointed to report that an appeal against Michael Keane’s dismissal in Wednesday’s Premier League fixture with Wolves has been rejected by an FA panel."

Additionally, the club proclaimed that "whilst the majority ruling of the three-person panel to uphold the dismissal and three-game suspension is a decision we must accept, we are nevertheless surprised."

They defended the player, saying, "Our appeal was also lodged in support of Michael Keane, a player who plays the game with the highest ethical standards."

Moreover, the club labelled the punishment as "excessive," and the incident did not meet the threshold for violent conduct.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference for the FA Cup meeting with Sunderland, Everton manager David Moyes could not contain his disappointment.

Moreover, he said, "(I'm) hugely disappointed, hugely surprised." he added, "(I'm) probably more angry with the panel, I have to question the three (panellists)"

Moyes went on to say, "I know who the three of them are, and I am absolutely amazed that they did not overturn it."

Additionally, the Scotsman went on to question a couple of recent decisions, "I just seen a game last night (Arsenal v Liverpool) where it's okay to throw a ball at somebody, or pick somebody up with a bad injury."

"But a little pull at somebody's hair, accidentally, means that it's a three-game ban - is quite extraordinary."

Furthermore, Moyes called out VAR's decision, "This was a young referee, in only his third or fourth game, and VAR gave him a terrible decision."

Michael Keane will now miss Everton's matches against Sunderland, Aston Villa and Leeds United.
