The cycle of football families, having its members representing different countries, has continued, and the latest to jump on the wave is the Doué household, with Guèla having Ivory Coast on his CV and Désiré embracing France.
He pledged his allegiance to the Elephants by debuting for the nation’s senior national team on March 23, 2024, in a friendly against Benin.
Guèla Doué, who was born in Angers, France, to an Ivorian father and French mother, holds dual citizenship.
The 23-year-old was also quick to get out of the blocks in terms of goals, as he penned his name amongst players to have scored for Ivory Coast with an 84th-minute winner in a 2-1 friendly triumph over Uruguay.
Moreover, Guèla Doué’s younger brother, Désiré, plays for Paris Saint-Germain and the French senior men’s national team.
His cousins, Yann Gboho alongside Marc-Olivier Doué, are also professional footballers, plying their trades with Toulouse and Castellón respectively.
Guèla and Désiré Doué are among the latest set of football siblings to commit their international allegiance to different countries.

The Boateng brothers, Kevin-Prince (Ghana) and Jerome (Germany), are honorary mentions, likewise Iñaki (Ghana) and Nico Williams (Spain) of Athletic Bilbao.
Additionally, Paul Pogba represents the French national team, while brothers Florentin and Mathias both chose their ancestral land, Guinea.
Désiré Doué
Désiré got his shot with the France national team in March 2025, as he was thrown into the fray for their 7-4 second-leg victory via penalties against Croatia in the 2024/25 edition of the UEFA Nations League.

Désiré Doué’s brother, Guèla, was a standout performer for Ivory Coast in their opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Guèla completed the entire 90 minutes in Emerse Faé’s side’s 1-0 win over Mozambique, with Amad Diallo scoring the decisive goal of the encounter in the 49th minute.
Guèla Doué put up a commanding display in defence and also contributed in attack when called upon.
The defender, who plays for Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, has earned 13 caps for Ivory Coast, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Guèla and Désiré are also nephews of Ivorian football referee Noumandiez Doué (55), who has been adjudicating matches since 2004.
