Brentford have made a brilliant start to life in Premier League 2 (PL2), and striker Kaye Furo has been named as the Player of the Month for August in PL2.

The Bees were cleared to participate in the competition this season after their academy gained Category One status.

Their striker Furo has been named Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August, as the Bees currently occupy seventh place in the standings.

The 19-year-old scored four goals and provided an assist across two games in August to help his team to help his team get off to a strong start.

He beat Reading's Luke Howard, Manchester United's Jaydan Kamason, West Ham's Josh Landers, Fulham's duo of Chibby Nwoko and Jayden Quashie, Leeds United's Carrick Njinko, and Sunderland's Trey Samuel-Ogunsuyi to the award.

Who Is Kaye Furo? From Club Brugge to Brentford

Kaye Furo has officially won the Player of the Month award for August in Premier League 2 after a goalscoring spree.

Furo developed through the youth setups of Royal Antwerp and Club Brugge (Club NXT), notably scoring in the UEFA Youth League against Atletico Madrid U-19.

The youngster joined the Bees in a €10 million deal from Belgian outfit Club Brugge in January, having impressed at the club.

The Belgium youth international is eligible to play for Nigeria internationally, having been born in 2007 to former Nigeria international Furo Iyenemi.

He made just three appearances for the Bees during his first half-season at the club, with two of his appearances coming in the FA Cup for Keith Andrews' side.

He is expected to provide additional depth alongside Igor Thiago and Callum Wilson for the Bees this season, even if he plays most of his minutes with the U-21 side.

How Kaye Furo Won the August PL2 Player of the Month Award

Brentford and Kaye Furo have made a strong start to their Premier League 2 campaign, as they started off with a win against Stoke City on August 21.

Furo started against the young Potters and scored just six minutes into the game to set his side on their way to a 3-2 win.

In their second game against Sunderland ten days later, he scored seconds after kick-off and added two more goals in the second half to complete a hat-trick as the young Bees beat their opponents 5-1.

He also assisted former Liverpool man Fabio Carvalho in the game, which also featured senior pro Josh Dasilva and Nigeria international Benjamin Fredrick.

With his performances across those two games, Furo strengthened his reputation as one of the most promising strikers at development level.

The Bees subsequently lost to Everton U-21s in his absence on Sunday, with Melvin Matos and Malik Olayiwola getting the goals for the young Toffees.

Kaye Furo Faces Spell on the Sidelines After Injury

Kaye Furo is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery to repair an injury on Monday morning, the club has confirmed in a statement.

The 19-year-old sustained an injury in training and will now miss several games, starting with the Carabao Cup clash against Reading.

Manager Keith Andrews confirmed that the young striker was meant to start against the League One side as he rued the injury which will leave him sidelined for a while.

He said the club will support him through his recovery and help him return to full fitness, after which he can get other opportunities to feature for the first-team.
