England turned on the style in Bielsko-Biała, Argentina bounced back with a stunning eight-goal statement, and hosts Poland maintained their perfect start to mount pressure at the top of their group.

Poland 2-1 Mexico: Hosts Fight Back to Stay Top of Group A

Tournament hosts Poland secured back-to-back victories in Group A, fighting back from an early setback to defeat Mexico 2-1 in front of a boisterous home crowd in Katowice.

Mexico gave themselves a dream start in the fifth minute when pressure inside the box forced Poland defender Martyna Bartczak to turn the ball into her own net. 

However, the hosts responded four minutes later when Oliwia Zwiazek picked up the ball at the edge of the area and curled a right-footed strike past the goalkeeper.

Despite Mexico controlling 63.5% of possession, Poland remained lethal on the counter. The turning point arrived in the 76th minute when Ashley Mora brought down a Polish attacker inside the box, prompting a VAR review. 

Zuzanna Witek stepped up to convert the resulting penalty and send Poland to the top of Group A.

Benin 0-8 Argentina: Annika Paz Scores Four in Stunning Rout

Argentina rebounded from their opening matchday defeat to Poland in ruthless fashion, handing debutants Benin an 8-0 defeat to reignite their knockout qualification hopes.

Christian Meloni’s side took control in the 16th minute when Julia Vinhas headed home from a set piece to give Argentina the lead.

Mercedes Diz made it two with a long-range strike on 32 minutes before Inter Milan forward Annika Paz scored her first of the night with a bouncing header off the post just before half-time.

Diz doubled her personal tally early in the second half before Paz completed a six-minute hat-trick between the 51st and 57th minutes.

After converting a penalty rebound, Paz added two more opportunist finishes off goalmouth rebounds to take her tally to four goals on the day. Julieta Aguilar added an eighth ten minutes from time.

Brazil 3-0 Canada: Selecao Take Control of Group B

Brazil took full control of Group B with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Canada in Bielsko-Biała, leaving the Canadians with work to do on the final matchday to qualify for the Round of 16.

Canada’s game plan unravelled inside the first three minutes when Olivia Chisholm conceded a penalty in the box, allowing Nogueira to step up and coolly slot home for the Selecao.

Any hopes of a Canadian comeback were severely dented in the 25th minute when centre-back Stephanie Schoeley was shown a straight red card for an ill-timed challenge while acting as the last defender.

Brazil capitalized on their numerical advantage to score twice more and cap off a dominant performance.

England 5-1 Tanzania: Maltby Hat-Trick Inspires First Win

Lydia Bedford's England side delivered a dominant performance in Bielsko-Biała, overwhelming Tanzania 5-1 to secure their first victory of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup and move second in Group B.
The Young Lionesses set the tempo from the outset.

On nine minutes, Princess Ademiluyi opened the scoring by steering home Vivienne Lia’s far-post cross. 

Five minutes later, Ademiluyi was fouled inside the area by Lidya Kabambo, allowing Rachel Maltby to slot the penalty into the bottom-left corner.

Maltby added two more before the break to complete a first-half hat-trick. Her second arrived from another spot-kick after Vera Jones was tripped, before she capped off a sweeping nine-pass team move in first-half stoppage time by finishing off Lily Dent’s delivery.

Tanzania pulled a goal back on 65 minutes through Jamila Mnunduka following Diana Mnally's looping cross off the post, but substitute Jessie Gale restored England's four-goal cushion nine minutes later by poking home Lia’s second assist of the day.
