As his contract runs down, Harry Wilson’s future has been heavily speculated over in recent weeks and months. The Fulham player will likely be available on a free transfer by the end of the month, and many clubs have been strongly interested in the Welsh international.

In a highly impressive 2025/26 season with the Cottagers, the right-winger registered 17 goal contributions in the competition and recently was awarded the club's Player of the Season award.

However, the 29-year-old is now increasingly unlikely to sign a new contract at Fulham, with almost all signs pointing towards a summer departure. Aston Villa are currently viewed as frontrunners for his signature, though a number of other Premier League clubs are also monitoring his situation closely.

Why Wilson Could Leave Fulham This Summer

Signed from his boyhood club Liverpool in 2022 for £12 million after an impressive loan spell, Wilson's four-year deal will expire at the end of June.

Considering his value to Fulham this season, the Cottagers have been keen to tie him down to a new contract, but with long-time manager Marco Silva departing amid a lack of European qualification, it has possibly left Wilson aiming higher for his prime years.

Back in April, Sky Sports revealed that the player was increasingly likely to leave this summer for another Premier League club, with Aston Villa reportedly very keen to reach an agreement.

Having recently achieved Europa League success and a fourth-place Premier League finish, it is understood that Unai Emery wants to increase his squad’s depth and quality heading into the club’s second Champions League campaign this side of the millennium, with Wilson among the attacking options being considered.

Another strong possibility is a potential return to Liverpool. Despite being with the club from the age of nine to 25, Wilson never actually featured for the first team - instead spending much of his time out on loan at clubs further down the English pyramid.

There may be a sense of unfinished business there, and with Liverpool’s recruitment ambitions under new boss Andoni Iraola being more restrained after last summer’s spending spree, an experienced, free, and proven option could help fill a gap recently left by Mohamed Salah.

Leeds United were close to a deadline-day move for Wilson last summer, when he was not considered part of Marco Silva’s immediate plans, but the deal ultimately fell through.

In hindsight, it proved a good decision by Fulham, though Leeds - bolstered by their small Welsh contingent - may try to revisit their interest in the winger. Other clubs such as Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Besiktas and Benfica are also believed to be watching the situation closely and remain keen.

What Does Wilson Bring To a Team?

Currently, Wilson is in the form of his career, and if he maintains it, he could be a valuable asset for almost any club in world football. With his contract situation, he also represents a low-risk, bargain signing that wouldn't warrant a ludicrous wage.

Versatile, the left-footed attacker can operate both as a right-sided winger - drifting inside onto his stronger foot or more centrally in a No. 10 role, as he has occasionally done throughout his career during loan spells at Cardiff City and Derby County.

Speaking to Grosvenor Casinos, former Liverpool player and coach Gary McAllister said of Wilson: “With his passing range, his ability to get a goal, and his work rate, he’s becoming a very complete player.”

“So, it’s no surprise there’s interest, as he’s out of contract at the end of the season, and I’m sure there will be a lot of takers,” he continued, before suggesting that Liverpool should make a move for the Welshman.

Another standout trait is his free-kick and corner delivery, which has been evident this season. With set pieces increasingly emphasised in the Premier League, specialists in these areas are becoming more pivotal and game-changing.

Whatever he decides, Wilson is set to have no shortage of options as he weighs up his next move and where his priorities lie moving forward.
