New Germany coach Jurgen Klopp is set to drop Stuttgart star Deniz Undav from his first squad for the upcoming international break.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany, Klopp is not satisfied with Undav's form in the Bundesliga where he has played three games without finding the back of the net this season, and both parties have had a discussion about the exclusion.
The 30-year-old forward was one of the standout players for Germany at the 2026 FIFA World Cup where he scored three goals and provided two assists in four games.
Klopp, who took over at the helm of the German national team in July 2026, will lead Die Mannschaft for the first time in their upcoming UEFA Nations League games against the Netherlands, Greece and Serbia.
DENIZ UNDAV'S STATS IN 2026-27 SEASON
Undav has made a slow start to the new campaign with Stuttgart where he has played in their opening three Bundesliga matches but yet to find the back of the net.
However, in the UEFA Champions League, the German forward registered two assists in Stuttgart's opening 3-1 win against Viking a week ago.
Undav cemented his spot in Germany's 2026 World Cup squad after scoring 19 goals and providing six assists in 29 Bundesliga games last season.
WHO COULD REPLACE UNDAV IN GERMANY SQUAD
With Undav's expected absence in the upcoming Germany games, Klopp is reportedly set to call on Eintracht Frankfurt duo Younes Ebnoutalib and Jonathan Burkardt.
Ebnoutalib has made a fine start to the season with three goals and an assist in three Bundesliga games while Burkardt has contributed two goals and an assist in the same number of matches.
Burkardt is not a stranger to the national team, having made his Germany debut in October 2024 but his teammate Ebnoutalib is still awaiting his maiden invitation to Die Mannschaft.
Ebnoutalib who joined Eintracht Frankfurt in December 2025, is a former Morocco youth player but he is still eligible to represent Germany, his country of birth.
GERMANY FIXTURES FOR SEPTEMBER BREAK
Germany will return to action for the first time this September since their round of 32 exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.
All four matches lined up for Germany will be in the UEFA Nations League Group B.
Jurgen Klopp's team are scheduled to face the Netherlands in Amsterdam on September 24, followed by a home game against Greece in Augsburg three days later.
The busy international break will continue with Germany hosting Serbia at the Allianz Arena on October 1 and they will wrap up the window with a trip to Thessaloniki to face Greece on October 4.
