Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been full of praise for his winger, Gabriel Martinelli, after the Brazilian scored a hat trick against Portsmouth yesterday.

Moreover, he helped the Gunners to a 4-1 victory at Fratton Park yesterday as his side progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Gabriel Martinelli came under severe criticism following the 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday. Furthermore, the Brazilian shoved Conor Bradley while he was struggling with an injury, which has been confirmed as an knee ligament injury.

Moreover, Martinelli apologised to the Northern Irishman, but it did not slow down any criticism towards him.

Additionally, he came under fire from some of the top people in the media, such as Gary Neville, who proclaimed that he was 'furious' with Martinelli's actions. TalkSPORT's Jason Cundy labelled the incident as 'classless and disgusting."

Away from the mainstream media, the incident sparked a debate on social media amongst all football fans on whether the winger's actions were based on not knowing the extent of Bradley's injury.

Nevertheless Liverpool fans online were left furious with the Brazilian.

Gabriel Martinelli put in a brilliant display against Portsmouth and, in the process, grabbed his first senior hat trick. Moreover, the winger scored two expert headers as well as a well-timed tap-in to complete his day.

Additionally, Martinelli received a hostile reception from the Fratton Park faithful; however, he and his team responded expertly to qualify for the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was full of praise for his winger's response to the criticism, "It is part of football, and it is how you take it." He added, "He knew inside why he did what he did (with Conor Bradley), Gabi (Martinelli) had no intention to damage any player."

Furthermore, Arteta was happy with Martinelli's attitude and performance at Fratton Park."That's personality, and do your talking on the pitch, which is part of it," the Spaniard added. "To play for a big club, you need a big personality and Gabi has that."

"In every context that you throw him in, he plays, he doesn't play, he performs well, not well - today he scored three goals, and tomorrow he's going to train 100 miles per hour."
