As always, a lot happened in the Premier League this weekend- the final set of games before Christmas. From title dark horses to relegation bound clubs.

It is an exciting title race this year in the Premier League. Three different clubs being seperated by three points going into Christmas. There is two many expected to be there, Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Citizens were always expected to bounce back after a poor finish from them last season, their lowest in years. Arsenal also, are fighting again after finishing runners up last season. However, Aston Villa have turned around what was looking like a poor season into what could possibly be a title charge.

They only added to their dreams with a win against Manchester United this weekend. An amazing performance from Morgan Rogers secured the points for Villa.

Elsewhere there was tough but expected win for Arsenal to stay the top of the League at Christmas and Manchester City also secured a win against West Ham.

Chelsea dropped points against Newcastle, but still find themselves in fourth place. Coming from 2-0 down Blues fans still have much to be happy about. Meanwhile a win over Spurs, missing Mo Salah, means Liverpool are only behind Chelsea on goal difference.

Sunderland also stay in the race for Europe with a draw against Brighton, continuing to defy all pre-season expectations.

Manchester United lost, weakening their grip on European football as well as getting an injury to their captain Bruno Fernandes. With key players missing for AFCON this could spark a potential rough patch for the Red Devils.

Wolves failed again to win this weekend against Brentford. The worry for Wolves is beginning to worsen as fans start to believe that beating the infamous Derby 2007/8 season maybe the target for the club this season. This would be to not go down as the worst performing team in Premier League history.

Newly promoted Burnley managed to snatch a draw late on from Bournemouth despite a goal from Antoine Semenyo. This draw ends a seven game loss streak for the Championship runners up. Burnley still find themselves stuck in nineteenth place despite the draw.

Unexpectedly West Ham find themselves in the midsts of this relegation fight, losing once again this time to Manchester City. They currently sit five points clear of safety and Hammers fans have to hope for new beginnings in the New year.

A loss against Fulham puts Notts Forest down fighting for their Premier League status, sitting in seventeenth place. Sean Dyche's side will have to hope they do enough to not drop lower than this spot.

Finally Leeds United find themselves in the best spot of the relegation fight, however there is still much to do for the Whites. Results like this weekend's 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace will certainly go along way in securing their Premier League status next season.

Like always in the Premier League, this weekend has been filled with ups and downs for fans. One thing is clear though as we await the second half of the season, every club still has a lot to play for.
