Across the last few seasons, Real Betis have been building something impressive under the tutelage of Manuel Pellegrini, and they have now matched their best-ever start to a La Liga campaign.

Pellegrini, who was previously in charge of Manchester City and Real Madrid, among others, has assembled a band of brothers in Seville, and together, they sit third in La Liga on goal difference.

Their matchday eight clash against Osasuna ended 5-2 in their favour, lifting them above Real Madrid onto 19 points, level with Atletico Madrid in second place.

Their points tally has surpassed the 17 points they garnered in the first eight games of the 1996-97 season, their previous best in the modern Primera division.

Pellegrini's Verdiblancos have managed to equal the tally from the 1934-35 season, when Real Betis emerged as champions of La Liga.

Real Betis Beat Osasuna 5-2 to Match Historic Record

Real Betis continued their impressive start to the 2026-27 season with a 5-2 win over Osasuna at the Estadio La Cartuja de Seville.

They needed just ten minutes to open the scoring, as Rodrigo Riquelme drew a foul from Unai Santos in the penalty box, and veteran star Isco stepped up to dispatch the penalty kick.

Just after the half-hour mark, they doubled their advantage through Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli, who scored his second goal of the season.

A third goal soon followed early in the second half, with Diego Llorente extending Betis' lead before Ante Budimir scored for Osasuna.

Budimir scored at the correct end two minutes later, before Raul Garcia added a second in the 56th minute to get the scores to 3-2.

Isco added a second goal in the 67th minute, before Jose Antonio Morante added a late fifth in stoppage time.
