Liverpool and Netherlands captain, Virgil van Dijk, has had his future up for grabs. With one year left on his contract, the 34-year-old has been expected to retire at Liverpool, however the club may look to cash in anyway they can this summer.
The once untouchable rock in the heart of Klopp's Premier League and Champions League winning side may be collateral as new manager Iraola looks to make his changes to the side.
Who Wants to Sign Virgil van Dijk?
With rebuilds occurring at big clubs around Europe, an Italian break could be lined up for the Dutch international. Former Manchester United and current Milan manager Ruben Amorim has eyed up the signing of Van Dijk, even naming it a 'dream signing'.
According to TEAMTalk, the Italian giants may want to bring in the experienced and still world class centre back but they will have competition from around the world to win his signature.
Turkish top flight competitors Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are both interested in giving the Van Dijk a final send off with a great chance to win more trophies and still compete in Europe. With several high-profile players moving to both clubs in the latter stages of their careers, a switch to Turkey would follow a familiar path.
Various clubs across the pond in America are interested but with Van Dijk having a young family, the relocation would be dramatic for his four children and wife. However, there would be no language barrier for them to adjust to.
On the other side of the world, Saudi Pro League clubs are also monitoring Liverpool's movements around accepting bids. Despite this, no contact has been made yet.
Liverpool Open to Listening to Offers
Neither the board or manager are intending on forcing the club legend out this summer. However, if an appropriate offer came in the club would consider it for the first time in Van Dijk's illustrious Liverpool career.
How Much Would Liverpool Accept for Van Dijk?
It is rumoured that the fee needed for Liverpool to contemplate moving on from the experienced centre back is at least £10 million, with a transfermarkt value at £12m.
After moving on from club legends Robertson and Salah, the possibility of Van Dijk leaving would match the club's approach we've seen in recent months. After losing Konate to Real Madrid, the Reds will likely inflate Virgil's value due to a lack of other starting centre backs.
Will Van Dijk Stay at Liverpool?
Van Dijk put pen to paper on a new deal in April 2025, clearly showing he intends to remain a Liverpool player for the remained of his contract.
With new signing Jeremy Jacquet looking forward to learning off of one of "the best centre-backs in the world currently, so I can only learn from him”.
With teammates looking forward to learning from him, Van Dijk recently signing a new contract and the high wages it would take another club to pay him it is likely Van Dijk will remain at Anfield for the remainder of the season.
