The Premier League may be set to witness its first regime change of the 2026-27 season in a few weeks, as Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa has come under pressure.

The Spaniard's side surrendered a 1-0 lead at Portman Road last weekend, losing 2-1 after Ipswich Town scored twice late in the match.

Arbeloa is safe for now, but TEAMtalk have claimed that the club hierarchy has issued a clear mandate demanding at least four points from his next two fixtures to prevent an immediate dismissal.

Fulham Reportedly Set Four-Point Target for Alvaro Arbeloa

According to TEAMtalk, Fulham's hierarchy wants Arbeloa to collect at least four points from the club's next two league matches, against Hull City and Coventry City.

The board has resisted the temptation to immediately relieve the Spaniard of his responsibilities, opting instead to give him two games to turn around the club’s form.

The defeat followed Ryan Sessegnon's second-half opener, which was overturned by late goals from Abdoul Ouattara and Dara O'Shea to give Ipswich a 2-1 victory.

Keen to avoid a messy relegation battle, board executives have communicated a strict, non-negotiable directive: Arbeloa must collect a minimum of four points from upcoming matches against Hull City and Coventry City to retain his position at Craven Cottage.

Fulham host Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday 17 October before travelling to face Coventry City on Saturday 24 October.

Fulham's board have begun sounding out a couple of possible choices to replace Arbeloa, in spite of their clear respect for his tactical pedigree.

The coming two matches could prove important for Arbeloa, who will be looking to improve Fulham's results and ease the pressure surrounding his position.

How Alvaro Arbeloa's Start Compares With Marco Silva's Fulham Record

Fulham parted ways with Marco Silva at the end of the 2025-26 season, with the Portuguese manager leaving to take charge of Benfica.

Silva had stabilised the Cottagers in mid-table, having been appointed when they dropped into the Championship for the 2021-22 season.

Silva guided Fulham to promotion in 2021-22, followed by a 10th-place finish in the Premier League in 2022-23. The club then finished 13th in 2023-24, 11th in 2024-25 and 11th in 2025-26. Fulham recorded 54 points in 2024-25, their highest Premier League points tally.

Silva left Fulham in the summer of 2026, while Harry Wilson joined Leeds United after his Fulham contract expired and Raul Jimenez also departed the club.

Arbeloa replaced Silva and Fulham subsequently signed Gonzalo Garcia, Cesar Palacios, Manuel Angel, and Shea Charles, as well as Hugo Larsson.

The Spaniard's signings appear to be yet to gel together fully, but he will need them to find something between themselves over the next fortnight.
