How Andreia Jacinto Changes Real Madrid's Midfield

Andreia Jacinto has just moved to Real Madrid Women coming from Real Sociedad after four successful years spent with the Txuri-urdin in La Liga F.
Jacinto started her footballing career at Sporting de Portugal since 2019, where she won the Portuguese Cup and Super Cup.
Afterwards, she moved to Real Sociedad in 2022 and started confirming herself as a valuable player progressively.
In her third season, she played the highest number of minutes under the management of Josa Luis Sanchez Vera and became one of the pillars of the team.
And in this past season, Jacinto helped Real Sociedad reach a third spot in La Liga F, just behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.
It was spot that granted the team UEFA Women’s Champions League participation next season.
The Portuguese midfielder confirmed herself at Real Sociedad and will be hoping to make another step towards becoming a world-class player by joining one of the top teams in Europe, Real Madrid.
Jacinto brings passing mastery, ability to dictate the game thanks to her excellent vision and key passing abilities.
Furthermore, she is a physical player who proved on numerous occasions that she is reliable in resisting pressure and in being valuable during the build-up phase.
How Jacinto Compares To Caroline Weir
If we compare her to Caroline Weir who is leaving Real Madrid, Jacinto brings more physicality to Real Madrid’s midfield as well as more dynamism, while not being inferior in terms of passing quality.
Even though Weir might have more experience in terms of attacking penetrations and support, Jacinto makes up for that by being a dominant midfield player who can represent the team’s reference especially if used as a defensive midfielder.
Added to that, Jacinto can be much more useful than Weir defensive-wise, as she guarantees more balance thanks to her defensive positioning, interceptions, and ability to win defensive duels.
Also, being a tall midfielder will surely help Real Madrid in winning more aerial duels per match.
Overall, Jacinto’s transfer to Real Madrid is more likely going to be very beneficial for the Spanish team, as the Portuguese international will boost the team’s midfield performances following the departure of Weir.
Real Madrid Continue Their Midfield Rebuild

As Weir left the club, Madrid decided to reinforce their team with quality signings especially in midfield.
These moves are expected to be followed by other transfers during the summer, as Real Madrid plan to reach more advanced stages in the UWCL and keep challenging Barcelona on a local level.
For now, Real Madrid have signed the 28-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt Women and Germany’s midfielder, Elisa Senß, in an attempt to level-up the team’s midfield performances next season.
And with Jacinto’s move, Real Madrid will certainly have a richer midfield composition next year.
That said, Madrid will still have to make some valuable signings especially regarding their attacking line, if they seriously plan on achieving more important objectives next season.
