The first El Clasico of the 2026-27 season is nearly upon us, and Real Madrid legend Guti shared his thoughts on both his former club and Barcelona ahead of the game at the Spotify Camp Nou on October 25th.

Madrid will come into the game trailing their bitter rivals and the reigning champions, with six points separating them ahead of this weekend's round of matches in La Liga. Before that both sides are in action in the UEFA Champions League but fans eagerly await their clash at Camp Nou.

Guti Explains Difference Between Barcelona and Real Madrid

Speaking on El Chiringuito, Guti provided an explanation about what separates both Spanish giants, at present.

He hailed the Catalan side and pointed to their composure as the main difference, alleging that Los Blancos are lacking in the department.

The former midfielder also lauded his former club for their strong unity under Jose Mourinho, stating that they will keep going, even if they lose games.

"They are a great team and they have a calm that Real Madrid lack.

They attract players from abroad, and when they perform well and win, they look better than they actually are.

I have noticed a strong sense of unity at Real Madrid, and even if they lose three matches, they will carry on in the same manner," he said (via GOAL).

Guti appeared 542 times for Real Madrid between 1995 and 2010, winning 15 major honours, including three UEFA Champions League crowns.

He joined the club as a boy in 1986 and went on to become a captain at the Bernabeu, as well as a full Spain international.

Real Madrid Facing Huge Battle in El Clasico, Under Greater Pressure to Win

Real Madrid currently sit six points adrift of rivals Barcelona in La Liga, having already lost twice to Real Betis and Atletico Madrid this season.

The reigning champions, on the other hand, have won all eight of their league games, scoring 34 times and conceding just seven goals so far.

Jose Mourinho took over as Los Blancos boss this summer with a mandate to narrow the gap to their bitter rivals at the summit of Spanish football and eventually overtake them.

While Real Madrid have failed to win any major honours in each of the last two seasons, Barcelona have won two La Liga crowns and a Copa del Rey trophy.

On a head-to-head basis, their record stands at 5-5 in their last ten La Liga meetings, with both teams having won at home against the other last season.

Mourinho's side could be without star forward Vinicius Junior, further complicating matters ahead of a tie against arguably Europe's most in-form side.

A defeat will leave Real Madrid possibly trailing their rivals by nine points, possibly putting paid to their hopes of winning La Liga this term.

This means that all of the pressure will be on Mourinho's side to get a favourable result from their trip to Catalunya.
