Harry Kane has enjoyed one of the biggest weeks of his career after becoming the latest Englishman to win the Ballon d'Or, but the Bayern Munich striker has his sights set on an even bigger team achievement.
The England captain was recognised as the world's best player at the ceremony in London, ending a 25-year wait for an English winner.
It was a landmark moment for the 33-year-old, who has enjoyed remarkable individual success since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham in August 2023.
However, despite adding one of football's most prestigious individual honours to his collection, Kane has made it clear that personal accolades are not the ultimate goal.
Speaking ahead of Bayern's Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid, the striker reflected on a memorable few days and explained what he still wants to achieve in Germany.
Harry Kane puts Champions League glory ahead of Ballon d'Or
Kane has revealed that he would choose winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich over keeping his Ballon d'Or trophy.
Speaking at a news conference in Madrid, the forward explained why lifting major team trophies remains his biggest ambition.
"Team trophies are why we play football. The team aspect of our sport is really, really important," Kane told reporters.
"The Ballon d'Or last week was one of the best feelings I've had in my life and my career.
"But to have moments with the team, celebrations with the club - to be able to lift the Champions League with Bayern would be an incredible feeling."
When asked directly which trophy he would choose, Kane did not hesitate.
"I would choose the Champions League, but I have the opportunity to do both - let's see what happens."
Kane's comments underline the importance he places on collective success, despite becoming just the fifth Englishman to win the Ballon d'Or.
He joins an exclusive list alongside Michael Owen, Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton and Kevin Keegan, having beaten Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to the award.
Bayern also celebrated their striker's achievement before Saturday's Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, with the club recognising his historic accomplishment in front of their supporters.
The German giants have not had a Ballon d'Or winner since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed the award in 1981, making Kane's triumph particularly significant for the club.
Kane provides update on Bayern Munich contract
Away from the Ballon d'Or celebrations, Kane also provided an encouraging update on his future at Bayern Munich.
The striker is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract, with discussions progressing positively over recent days.
"There have been good conversations," Kane said, adding that he was "extremely close" to putting pen to paper.
"A lot of the bigger stuff has been ironed out and we are happy with," he explained.
"But in every contract there are loads of little things that go into it, small details that in the end the lawyers have to thrash out and figure out."
Kane suggested an agreement could be reached within days rather than weeks, with the latest discussions having gone well.
"Hopefully we will be in a place to do something within the next few days."
Bayern's preparations for their Champions League fixture have also been affected by the absence of head coach Vincent Kompany, who was hospitalised after collapsing during a training session on 23 October.
Kompany was discharged five days later and is continuing his recovery, with assistant Aaron Danks overseeing first-team duties in his absence.
Kane acknowledged that the squad were missing their manager but insisted the situation had provided opportunities for others to step forward.
"We're missing our coach, but everyone has the opportunity to prove themselves and there's a long way to go," he added.
With his Ballon d'Or success now behind him, Kane's ambitions remain firmly focused on what Bayern can achieve together. A Champions League triumph would give the striker another defining moment in his career and one he has already suggested would mean even more than his latest individual honour
