Paris Saint-Germain have sounded out Achraf Hakimi about a possible contract extension, according to L'Équipe, but the defender's representatives are in no rush to move discussions forward.

His current deal runs until June 2029, and his camp believes there is still plenty of time to negotiate a new one.

PSG approach Achraf Hakimi over new contract

L’Équipe reports that PSG recently approached Hakimi’s representatives to open talks over a possible contract extension, with the club keen to secure the future of a player they consider central to the squad.

However, Hakimi’s camp is said to have put the discussions on hold, believing there is still plenty of time before formal negotiations need to begin. PSG announced his current contract on 7 February 2025, alongside extensions for Luis Enrique, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes.

No details of a potential new deal, including its length or salary, have emerged. The report comes shortly after Hakimi’s impressive performance in PSG’s 5-1 Ligue 1 win at Le Havre on 30 October.

The 27-year-old scored the first hat-trick of his career, finding the net in the 28th, 55th and 69th minutes. He also provided two assists as PSG strengthened their position at the top of Ligue 1.

Where Hakimi’s Trial Stands as Contract Talks Wait

The contract news comes as Hakimi awaits trial over an alleged rape. According to Actu17, an investigating judge ordered him to stand trial before the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court on 24 February 2026.

The Versailles appeal court upheld that decision on 19 June, before the Court of Cassation rejected his appeal against the referral on 23 September. The case relates to an alleged rape of a young woman in February 2023.

Hakimi denies the allegation and is presumed innocent. He has said on X that he is waiting for the trial "with impatience". No trial date has been announced, although proceedings could take place in early 2027.

Get French Football News has reported that PSG's approach to a contract extension is unrelated to the legal proceedings, with both the club and the player said to be confident about the situation.
