Bayern Munich and Harry Kane got their Champions League campaign off to a flying start with a 5-0 over Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt win at the Allianz Arena. The victory takes them to second in the table after matchday one, with Paris Saint-Germain currently claiming the top spot after their 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava at the Parc des Princes.

Vincent Kompany's side more than shook off any lingering frustrations from last weekend's goalless draw at Schalke in the Bundesliga and head into a weekend clash with newly promoted and undefeated side SV Elversberg with momentum on their side.

Bodø/Glimt did make hard work for Bayern, at least in the first half, but keeper Nikita Haikin came off injured at half-time, and the floodgates opened after Jamal Musiala finally broke the deadlock in the 47th minute. After he got things going for the German Rekordmeister, Bayern scored four more unanswered goals through Harry Kane, Michael Olise (2), and Alphonso Davies.

Yet Another Milestone For Harry Kane

Harry Kane seems to be breaking records and reaching new heights for fun at Bayern. Since making the move to Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur back in the summer of 2023, the England skipper has amassed a bevy of scoring records.

He became the fastest ever player to reach 95 Bundesliga goals and 100 goal contributions for Bayern. He also became the first player in the Bundesliga to win the prestigious Torjägerkanone in each of his first three seasons, and he's the highest-scoring Englishman ever in the German top flight.

With his goal in the win over Bodø/Glimt, Kane also reached another impressive milestone. He is now just the fourth player in history to score in eight consecutive Champions League matches, a run that stretches back to January's 2-0 win over Royale Union Saint-Gilloise during last season's group phase, a match in which he scored both of his side's goals.

Kane now joins the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, and Ruud van Nistelrooy in the small list of players who have achieved this feat in the Champions League, and there's nothing to suggest that Kane's streak won't carry on well beyond scoring in just eight straight appearances.

A Man For The Big Moments

Even more impressively, there were only three Champions League matches that Kane didn't score in last season that he played in, as he was an unused sub for Bayern's round of 16 first-leg win over Atalanta. He failed to score in only three league-phase matches: the 2-1 win over PSG, the 3-1 loss at Arsenal, and the 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon.

Fittingly for this year's top Ballon d'Or contender, Kane scored in every single knockout stage match that he played in last season in the Champions League against Atalanta (round of 16 second leg), Real Madrid, and PSG.

The Ballon d'Or has made a point of saying they're heavily weighing key contributions in key matches and, for Kane's sake, it doesn't get much bigger than scoring against the likes of Real Madrid and/or PSG in the late stages of the Champions League.
