Liverpool delivered a fitting response to their defeat at home to Manchester City last weekend, with £123 million man Bradley Barcola opening his account for the club with a hat-trick.

Barcola's goals in the UEFA Champions League win over LASK were not enough to grab the spotlight from 19-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni, in the eyes of some fans.

An earlier Striver article had asked for the youngster to play more often, pointing to his various qualities that make him an asset in Andoni Iraola's set-up.

The Spanish tactician trusted the teenager to start in the middle of the park alongside Ryan Gravenberch, and he delivered a sterling performance for the Reds.

It was a goal-fest at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz, as the teams scored nine goals between them with the game ending 6-3 to the Premier League side.

Ronald Araujo opened his account for the club with a header before a pair of Barcola strikes put them three goals up by the break.

Jeremie Frimpong added a fourth goal after 51 minutes before setting up Barcola to complete his hat-trick and Lewis Koumas for his first goal for the club.

Between the fourth and fifth Liverpool goals, Robert Ljubicic pulled one back for LASK within seconds of his introduction off the bench.

Florian Flecker scored twice in a four-minute spell to add some respectability to the scoreline at the end of the game.

Trey Nyoni Turns Heads With Performance Against LASK

Iraola named Nyoni in the starting line-up for only the second time this season, having also started the youngster in the Carabao Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder quickly acquainted himself with the occasion, as the Reds were under pressure to deliver a response after their defeat to Manchester City.

Nyoni was on the pitch for 85 minutes and registered 105 touches, completing more passes than any other player on either side.

He created a chance and won one ground duel, as well as both of his aerial duels.

The teenager also made a tackle, two interceptions, three clearances, and four ball recoveries for the Reds.

'Such a Baller': Liverpool Fans Deliver Nyoni Verdict

Liverpool fans took to social media to praise Nyoni for his impressive display against the Austrian outfit.

One of the fans lauded him for making his team's forwards better just by being in midfield. "Trey Nyoni is making every attacker around him look better! What a gem we have on our hands! The talent, composure and vision are unreal. Liverpool have a special player in the making!"

Another fan pointed out that the teenager helps his coach to have multiple tactical options in the game due to his adaptability to multiple situations. "Trey Nyoni gives Iraola so many options. His composure receiving the ball allows the team to play a 4-3-3 with both 8s pushing higher. Press him tight and he's got that mini-Gravenberch dribble to escape. Stand off him & he dictates the tempo, connects play and orchestrates everything. So many layers to his unbelievable talent."

A fan stated that it was obvious from earlier that the youngster is a good player. "It was already obvious but Trey Nyoni is such a baller."

Another fan wrote that he needs more regular minutes, judging by how well he performs when he plays. "Nyoni needs to be playing more regularly for us as well. The composure he shows for someone with so little experience is insane."

Trey Nyoni was the subject of an approach from Nottingham Forest in the summer, with Liverpool turning down a £25 million offer late in the window.

They will need to reject a couple more approaches for the teenage star if he continues to get minutes to impress.
