Chilean club Colo-Colo have announced the signing of Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha following his sensational display at the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 40-year-old played in the Portuguese Liga 2 last season with Chaves but he left the club at the end of his contract, just before the World Cup.
Vozinha is believed to have signed an 18-month contract at the Estadio Monumental after Colo-Colo beat rivals to his signing on a free transfer.
The move to Chile would be Vozinha's first club adventure outside of Europe and Africa, having previously played in Cape Verde, Angola, Moldova, Cyprus, Slovakia and Portugal.
Colo-Colo announced the imminent arrival of the 40-year-old goalkeeper with a teaser picture on social media, that read: "Welcome. We're waiting for you."
How Vozinha Shone At The 2026 FIFA World Cup
Vozinha attracted significant international attention for his outstanding performances between the sticks at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He helped Cape Verde keep a clean sheet against eventual champions Spain in their first group game and also helped them advance to the round of 32 for the first time in their history.
Against Spain, he made seven saves to keep a clean sheet and win the Man of the Match.
Vozinha had a similar record against Argentina with seven saves and eight recoveries but Cape Verde were eventually knocked out in the round of 32 by the 2022 world champions.
His impact did not end on the pitch as it also affected his influence on social media.
Vozinha's Instagram account skyrocketed from 45,000 followers to about 30 million followers within a month.
At the end of the tournament, the Cape Verdean was selected in the FIFA World Cup Dream XI alongside Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Rodri.

Colo-Colo is the most successful club in Chilean football with 34 league trophies and 14 Copa Chile titles.
The Eternal Champions are considered the most popular sports club in Chile with the most supporters, including over 6 million followers across social media.
Colo-Colo have never been relegated from the Chilean top division and they offer Vozinha a chance to win his first club silverware since he lifted the Cypriot Cup with AEL Limassol in 2019.
They sit at the top of the Chilean Liga de Primera with 13 points above second-placed Universidad Catolica and they also have former Barcelona and Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal in their set-up as club captain.
