Things appear to be going from bad to worse for Manchester United, judging by events that have taken place during their UEFA Champions League match against AS Roma.
The Old Trafford fans are far from pleased with the situation of things at the club at present, and they protested by throwing objects onto the pitch during the game.
They saw their side go 2-0 down inside the opening quarter of the game, closing in on a tenth successive game without a win across all competitions.
Fans throw tennis balls onto the pitch to protest against ownership
The Manchester United fans hurled tennis balls on the pitch to express their collective frustration with the lack of direction at the club.
The gesture, coupled with the one from before kick-off, was meant to signify the fact that the fans are fed up with the ownership.
Before the game began, the 4,000 fans in the Stretford End released green and gold balloons, with the colours symbolising the original colours of Newton Heath, the club that became Manchester United.
As part of their protests, the fans chanted against the ownership, asking that the club be sold by the Glazers and INEOS.
Quickfire Roma double puts United in jeopardy
AS Roma scored twice in the opening half to go 2-0 up against Manchester United in their league phase meeting at Old Trafford.
Rodrigo Mora found Matias Soule in acres of space after a United turnover, and the Argentina international marked his national team call-up with a well-taken finish in the 11th minute.
Six minutes later, a similar situation unfolded, only for a sliding Ayden Heaven to block Soule's shot with his arm, resulting in a penalty.
Donyell Malen stepped up and slotted home his fourth goal in the competition this season, giving the Giallorossi a 2-0 lead in the first half.
