Arsenal carried on their perfect start to the season across all competitions with a comfortable 4-2 over Ipswich Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Portman Road. Mikel Arteta's side have now won six matches on the bounce to start their 2026/27 campaign and got the job done against Ipswich with a rotated side just three days after beating Sunderland 2-0 in the Premier League.

Youngster Max Dowman led the way for the Gunners with a brace and he also provided the assist for Mikel Merino's goal - his side's fourth of the match. For the other goal, it was a solid volleyed effort from winger Noni Madueke, who quite arguably had his best performance of the season thus far having started in place of Bukayo Saka on the night.

It was Madueke's first goal of the season having made five appearances across all competitions so far with his previous goal for coming on the final matchday of the Premier League season in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Prior to that goal, he hadn't scored since March in an FA Cup win over Mansfield Town that gave Arteta's side far more trouble than it should've and only scored two other goals in the league aside from his goal against Palace on the last day of the season when they had already clinched the title.

For some Arsenal fans, Madueke has been the subject of criticism for his lack of serious production, even as a second-string player in Arteta's setup, but after his Ipswich performance, there's renewed belief in the England international.

A Talented Player We Need To See More Of

After the Ipswich win, Arsenal fans shared their thoughts on Madueke, knowing that they have a very talented footballer on their hands that they need to see more positive performances from. They'll know his capable of more than the eight goals and four assists he tallied last season.

One fan wrote:"I just wish more people would be honest about Madueke. He's clearly got an elite, raw skillset to work with. Then you factor in he's barely played consistent minutes anywhere. PSV his only real stint. Chelsea was unstable. Here, he gets mixed minutes. Sublime talent."

Another added: "This is what Madueke is capable of. I just wish we'd get to see it more often."

One said: "Madueke is putting in balls quickly. And good deliveries too with his weak foot. He's actually working to improve his game. If he had a CF that could attack the ball, he'd be appreciated more."

Another reacted: "Madueke always plays at a certain level. You can be annoyed with his finishing at times, but he guarantees you a decent level of performance always."

A Bevy Of Matches On Tap

Luckily for Madueke, Arteta will more than likely give him chances due to the sheer amount of matches that will be coming thick and fast after the international break. Madueke will also - presumably - be a part of Thomas Tuchel's England squad during the break for their UEFA Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia, and Croatia.

Once the international break is over, Arsenal have matches on October 10th, 13th, 18th, 21st, and 24th to round out next month between the Premier League and Champions League. Madueke will have plenty of chances to impress, whether it be coming off of the bench, or getting a small handful of starts.
