Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly set to sign a new contract at Leeds United, according to BBC Sport, potentially ending Manchester United's hopes of signing the striker in January.

The report, published by Simon Stone on 30 October, comes a day after The Athletic revealed that Man Utd were considering the England international as a possible transfer target ahead of the January window.

Calvert-Lewin is contracted to Leeds until 2028, but the club wants to secure his future with an improved deal. No new contract length or salary details have been reported.

Why Man Utd Were Looking At Calvert-Lewin

Manchester United's interest emerged on 29 October, when Laurie Whitwell and Beren Cross reported that the club was exploring the market for centre-forwards ahead of the January window.

They wrote:

"Manchester United are exploring the market for centre forwards in January, and one name under consideration is Dominic Calvert-Lewin."

However, the report described a potential deal as unlikely, with Leeds expected to be reluctant to lose the striker. United's recruitment staff were also said to be assessing whether a move would be financially and practically feasible.

Calvert-Lewin scored against United in their 1-1 draw at Elland Road on 18 October, equalising in the 51st minute after Bryan Mbeumo had given the visitors the lead.

What Is Still Unconfirmed About The Contract

Although Calvert-Lewin is expected to commit his future to Leeds, details of the proposed agreement remain unclear. Neither the length of the new deal nor any potential salary increase has been reported, and the club has yet to announce an agreement.

For Manchester United, the search for attacking reinforcements is likely to continue. Benjamin Sesko's extended absence with a shin injury has increased the need for another centre-forward, with Calvert-Lewin among the options.

However, Leeds' efforts to secure the striker's future could force United to look elsewhere when the January transfer window opens.

Calvert-Lewin's Record Since Joining Leeds

Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds from Everton on a free transfer in August 2025, signing a three-year contract. He made an immediate impact, scoring 14 Premier League goals in 35 appearances during his first season.

His overall record stands at 20 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, making him an important part of Leeds' attacking plans.

A new agreement would extend his stay at Elland Road beyond his current contract. Manchester United may have to turn their attention to alternative targets as they continue their search for a centre-forward.
