Jordan Henderson rolled back the years for Chelsea in their impressive 5-1 rout of Bournemouth in the Premier League, leaving BBC pundit Chris Sutton stunned.

The 36-year-old was on target on his second appearance for the Blues, scoring in either half of his home debut at Stamford Bridge.

Xabi Alonso's side returned to winning ways in impressive fashion, having made the most of the three-week international break to regroup and find their rhythm.

Sutton Impressed By Jaw-Dropping Henderson Free-Kick

Chris Sutton was on duty with BBC Football, covering the game in West London as Chelsea returned to action after their 3-0 defeat at Brentford last time out.

Alonso kept faith in former Liverpool captain Henderson, naming him alongside fit-again Moises Caicedo in the middle of the park.

The Englishman justified his inclusion by firing home a stunning free-kick from around 25 yards out.

His effort caught Sutton by surprise, with the pundit hailing him for the quality he displayed at his age.

"Unbelievable free kick. Cole Palmer looks like he's going to strike it but then Jordan Henderson whips it around the wall. He's good enough at his age to find the top of the net."

Cole Palmer won the free kick just outside the box after a fine run through the heart of the Bournemouth team.

He shaped to shoot but left it for Henderson, who wrapped his foot around an inch-perfect effort that beat Djordje Petrovic in goal for the Cherries. It was Chelsea's fifth goal, completing the rout of the winless Cherries.

Henderson Shines in Brilliant Chelsea Win

Chelsea needed a response after their humbling at Brentford last time out, and they got off to the best possible start, scoring inside two minutes at home.

Palmer drove into the Bournemouth half before laying the ball off to Henderson, whose first-time effort went in off the upright.

Less than a minute later, Morgan Rogers' attempt deflected in off Antonio Silva to put the Blues two goals up inside three minutes for the first time ever.

They repeated the trick at the start of the second half, with Joao Pedro firing home from inside the box after a square ball from Pedro Neto seconds after the restart.

Bournemouth responded through Evanilson shortly afterward, with the Blues' defensive set-piece woes costing them a clean sheet again.

Two goals followed in quick succession through Pedro and Henderson, with Alonso's team claiming a fine win.

Henderson was everywhere in midfield for the Blues, complementing Caicedo with his impressive ball progression and experience.

He completed 85% of his passes and registered an assist to go with his two goals, while also covering the most distance of any player on either side.

The veteran created two chances and won 100% of his aerial duels, providing steel in the middle of the park.
