Roma are among the clubs considering a move for Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez, according to AS.
The Spanish newspaper reported on 30 October that the 28-year-old could leave Old Trafford next summer, with his contract due to expire in June 2027.
Which Clubs Are Interested in Lisandro Martínez?
AS also identified Inter and Como as potential destinations in Italy, while Atlético Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring the Argentine international.
Atlético’s interest is longstanding, while Barcelona are taking a more cautious approach. Roma are among the possible options, but no formal bid or negotiations have been reported.
The Athletic reported that injuries to Eric García, Jules Koundé, Andreas Christensen and Xavi Espart have weakened Hansi Flick’s defensive options.
Barcelona would only consider a move if the deal were affordable. The club’s reported January budget is €3m to €4m, meaning it would need to raise funds through player sales first, with Alejandro Balde mentioned as a possible option.
Como’s interest is linked to the expected departure of Jacobo Ramón, who is due to return to Real Madrid. Roma, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen their squad under Gian Piero Gasperini.
Their interest in Martínez is reportedly focused on next season instead of January.
Why Martínez's Manchester United Future Is Uncertain
AS reported that neither Martínez nor Manchester United is expected to activate the one-year contract extension option. The defender could therefore leave next summer, although United may consider offers as early as January, depending on the proposals received.
His relationship with the club has come under strain following his public criticism of the hierarchy after United's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid on 13 October.
Martínez singled out technical director Jason Wilcox, saying:
"I expect more from our technical director."
He later apologised after meeting United's leadership and head coach Michael Carrick on 15 October.
With his contract situation unresolved, Martínez could attract interest from several clubs next summer, with Roma among the potential contenders for his signature.
