Tottenham Hotspur winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has suffered an ankle sprain in training and will be out of action for at least 6-8 weeks.
The Ukrainian star joined Roberto De Zerbi's team from London rivals, Chelsea on the summer transfer deadline day on an initial loan deal that comes with a purchase option of £75 million.
The news comes as a blow for Tottenham, who are still without a win in the Premier League this season, and for Mudryk, who is returning from a ban that lasted over 600 days.
Before his Tottenham debut against Nottingham Forest last Saturday, Mudryk's last competitive game was in November 2024.
MUDRYK'S INJURY SETBACK
The 25-year-old picked up the ankle sprain during one of Spurs' training sessions earlier this week and he is not expected to be back until after the international break.
Mudryk will miss this weekend's Premier League game against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the upcoming Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool and Aston Villa's league trip to North London.
Last Saturday, the former Shakhtar Donetsk star took a step to revive his career after coming on a second-half substitute in Tottenham's goalless draw at Nottingham.
Mudryk was introduced for Mathys Tel in the 73rd minute of the Premier League game and he managed to make five touches with two passes in the final 16 minutes.
WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM AFTER MUDRYK'S INJURY
Despite Mudryk's blow, Tottenham Hotspur are not limited in attack, as they have a range of talented attackers.
Tottenham were one of the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window with about £380 million spent to strengthen De Zerbi's squad that narrowly escaped relegation last term.
With the absence of Mudryk, De Zerbi's attacking options include Omar Marmoush, Savinho, Tel Mathys and Mohammed Kudus on the flanks.
Spurs are yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League this season, and they would hope to turn the poor run around when they host David Moyes' Everton for their first goal and first win.
They began their league campaign with a 3-0 loss at Brentford, followed by a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United and a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
