Real Madrid supporters believe Arda Guler isn't getting his deserved recognition because of Jude Bellingham's star power following their side's 3–0 La Liga victory over Racing Santander.
Bellingham's 21st-minute strike was his 50th goal for the club, making him the first Englishman to reach that milestone. However, fans were quick to highlight the quality of Guler's contribution.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute before Bellingham extended Madrid's lead. Yan Diomande added a third in the 36th minute to seal the 3–0 victory.
Arda Guler becoming an unsung hero
Bellingham's goal began with Mbappé finding Guler in midfield. The Turkish midfielder then picked out Bellingham's run behind Racing Santander's defensive line with a perfectly weighted through ball.
The England international rounded goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala before finding the net. He dinked the ball from outside the area. Guler came up with the assist, playing a key role in creating the milestone goal.
Bellingham has now reached 50 goals since joining Madrid in 2023, making him the first English player to reach that milestone at the club.
Bellingham's achievement and overall performance attracted attention, but some supporters felt Guler's vision and execution went under the radar as has his form this season.
Why supporters see Güler as increasingly central
The reaction went beyond the assist as several fans praised Guler's passing and ability to pick out runs that others might miss.
One supporter wrote: “Everyone is just fixed on the Bellingham goal; nobody is talking about the Arda Guler pass that led to the goal.”
Another was impressed by how quickly the midfielder picked out Bellingham's run, saying: “Arda Guler passing awareness and weight of passing can’t stop amusing me. See how quickly he spotted that Bellingham run and how quickly he released him.
Some fans also felt Güler's overall performances for Madrid deserved more attention. One supporter wrote: “If you actually watch Real Madrid closely, you'll realise that Arda Güler is their best player right now.”
Another compared his passing to that of club legend Guti, writing: “Arda Güler is better than Guti. His passing weight is out of this world, making that assist for Bellingham look effortless.”
One suggested Bellingham is getting too much praise in comparison: "Arda Güler will be doing all the dirty work, only for Bellingham to show up with one tap-in and steal all the glory.
If you actually watch Real Madrid closely, you'll realise that Arda Güler is their best player right now."
Another added: “Arda Güler's pass on Bellingham's goal. The Turk is warming up to delivering those passes that break advanced lines. He has a supreme intelligence for breaching the opponents' high lines. It's a spectacle. GENIUS”
Guler has become a regular stater under Jose Mourinho this season, shining brightly albeit not getting all the headlines. But fans are noticing his importance in a Los Blancos side who are three points off leaders Barcelona.
