Bournemouth and Liverpool face off in their final Premier League match before the first international break of the season. Andoni Iraola will return to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday (September 20th) for the first time since leaving for Anfield in the summer.

Iraola replaced Arne Slot after spending three seasons with the Cherries, guiding them to UEFA Europa League qualification last season. It's been an interesting start to life on Merseyside for the Spaniard whose Reds haven't quite clicked into gear.

Liverpool head into the game sitting eighth in the Premier League table with one win and three draws in their opening four games. They face a Bournemouth side who are unfortunate to find themselves 15th having been held to three draws and suffering one defeat.

Meet Bournemouth vs Liverpool Referee Michael Oliver

Michael Oliver has been handed refereeing duty for Bournemouth vs Liverpool and it comes just a week after he was involved in huge controversy. The English official took charge of Manchester City's 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Manchester derby.

The 41-year-old initially and correctly ruled out Erling Haaland's winner but incorrectly deemed the striker to have been offside. VAR intervened and ruled that Haaland had been onside but failed to spot Enzo Fernandez interfering with play from an offside position.

Oliver hasn't been punished for the ordeal but Pro Ref have suspended Matt Donohue and Blake Antrobus who were on VAR duty from Premier League football this weekend. He'll be looking to put that drama behind him at the Vitality.

The FIFA-listed referee is regarded as one of England's best and has been officiating in the top-flight since 2010. He became the youngest referee in the league's history at the age of 25 years and 182 days.

Oliver has officiated at major international tournaments including European Championships and World Cups. He is from Ashington, Northumberland and will be refereeing Liverpool for the first time this season on Sunday.

Who is Assisting Michael Oliver?

Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring will offer Oliver assistance on the touchline while Simon Hooper has been appointed as this game's fourth official. Hooper is often the man in the middle for Premier League games and has plenty of experience.

In the VAR room will be Craig Pawson and he'll be assisted by Lee Betts. Given last weekend's controversy, they'll be hoping for a quiet afternoon.
