The World Cup is always a shop window for teams looking to strengthen their squads for the next season and Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is being eyed for a move away from Parma.
Let's see why teams around Europe are sniffing around the Parma shot stopper.
Juventus Join Leeds in Race for Zion Suzuki
According to recent reports from Sportitalia, Parma have slapped a €30 million (including bonuses) price tag on their star goalkeeper.
After some stellar performances in Japan's run in the World Cup, a lot of clubs are more willing to pay that money.
For quite some time, Leeds have been viewed as the outright frontrunners to secure Suzuki's signature. The English side have been monitoring his progress closely to bolster their ranks, especially with a move for Emiliano Martinez falling through.
However, Leeds' hesitation to finalize the deal has opened the door for a massive European heavyweight to hijack the move.
Juventus have officially made an approach to Parma to inquire about the conditions of a potential transfer. The Bianconeriare always looking to solidify their defensive foundation, and Suzuki's commanding presence, elite reflexes, and brilliant distribution under pressure have clearly caught the eye of the hierarchy in Turin.
Could Suzuki Follow Buffon's Parma-to-Juventus Path?
If Suzuki does choose to stay in Italy and join Juventus, it wouldn't be the first time a top keeper made that move. The Old Lady will be hoping he pans out a lot like Buffon to take them back to the top of Serie A.
Parma are set to make an absolute fortune on the player, having paid Belgian side Sint-Truiden just €8.2 million plus add-ons for him back in 2024.
Even with a 10 percent sell-on clause included in that deal, a €30m sale to either Juventus or Leeds United would be a win-win situation. With Parma making a profit and their keeper making that big step up.
