Everton are eyeing a January swoop for Tottenham Hotspur star Conor Gallagher to bolster their midfield.

Fussball News reports that the Toffees face strong competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Leeds United for the 26-year-old star.

The former Chelsea player completed a £34 million return to London in January after spending 18 months in the Spanish La Liga with Atletico Madrid.

He is tied to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2031, which means Tottenham are not under any pressure to lose of one of their key players.

Everton, Aston Villa & Leeds eye Gallagher

Following his arrival in the second half of the 2025-26 season, Gallagher played a crucial role in helping Tottenham Hotspur avoid Premier League relegation.

He has played seven Premier League matches this season and has a goal to his name.

However, the 26-year-old is attracting transfer interest from Premier League rivals because he has been limited to substitute appearances in Roberto De Zerbi's team.

Gallagher is considered a leader in Roberto De Zerbi's team, but he faces competition from James Maddison, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Archie Gray for adequate playing time in the middle of the park.

The situation has Aston Villa, Leeds United and Everton on alert and they are reportedly considering their plans to table an offer in January.

Spurs, meanwhile, are yet to place a price tag on the former Chelsea captain.

How Gallagher could impact Everton

Everton have made a promising start to the Premier League season, occupying the seventh position in the league table with just three points behind the top four.

Gallagher's potential addition is an opportunity to boost the Toffees' midfield with Premier League experience, midfield versatility and tactical prowess.

With Jack Grealish's indiscipline crisis, Gallagher could be the right fit to bolster David Moyes' midfield alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Harrison Armstrong, Christian Norgaard and co.

In 2023, the 26-year-old reportedly declined a move to Everton but it remains to be seen whether his decision has changed if David Moyes' side submit an offer in January.
