Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe made fun of teammate Aurelien Tchouameni in his interaction with a young fan after their win over Racing Santander.
The French midfielder left the child in tears after a wild shot of his struck the youngster in the stands in the second half of the La Liga encounter on Sunday evening.
In a meeting with the youngster, Mbappe teased his international compatriot, turning an accidental stray shot into a viral comedy moment that won over supporters worldwide.
The scenario and sequence of events offered a glimpse into the light-hearted mood of the dressing room.
'He doesn't know how to shoot': Mbappe's hilarious explanation for accident and classy touch from Tchouameni
Real Madrid were in charge against Racing Santander at their Campos de Sport de El Sardinero home, cruising with a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period.
Five minutes into the second half, Tchouameni tried to score from outside the box, only to wildly strike his effort into the stands.
The ball went straight to the head of young Maximo, a Racing fan who stood beside some seated adults, leaving him crying from the impact of the shot.
To make it up to him, Real Madrid granted him access to their players as they were leaving the stadium, and Mbappe had a moment with him upon sighting him, explaining jokingly that Tchouameni was at fault because of his poor shooting.
"It's Tchouameni's fault, he doesn't know how to shoot!", he said.
The midfielder also appeared afterward to console Maximo, handing him his shirt from the game as a way of apologising for the shot.
He also took a picture with Maximo and his father, just as Mbappe had earlier done.
Warm gestures and strong dressing room camaraderie follows good run of form
While the initial moment brought widespread laughter across social media, the actions of both French international stars made sure the incident ended on a heart-warming note.
The exchange underscored the relaxed atmosphere, camaraderie, and strong bonds present within Jose Mourinho's squad as they maintain peak morale during a busy domestic and European schedule.
Los Blancos have won each of their last six games, including a hard-earned win over rivals Barcelona in El Clasico last week.
In that run of wins, they have found the net 18 times and conceded just six goals.
Against Racing this weekend, goals from Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and a Yan Diomande rocket ensured that all three points returned to Madrid with them.
With games against AEK Athens and Valencia to come before the international break, Mourinho's team can build up even more momentum ahead of the break.
